- Abstract
The armed conflict in Colombia has had a number of effects upon the country's social fabric, relationship constructs and identity building. In recent decades and as a result of territorial disputes between criminal gangs, cases of intra-urban forced displacement have been intensifying in cities. This phenomenon has particularly affected women, creating fragmentation within their social support networks, disintegrating their family and community structures, and leading to deterioration of their living and mental health conditions. This work presents narratives of social support for women experiencing displacement in the 13th Comuna of the city of Medellin, Colombia. A qualitative design with a phenomenological approach was used, applying semi-structured interviews and narrative analysis, seeking a description of the events and the various meanings attributed to experiences prior to, during and after displacement. The findings include the importance of emotional support, spiritual support and community support for rebuilding the life projects of women survivors.
