- Abstract
Describes the structure of the Open Runtime Platform (ORP), a high-performance managed runtime environment that features exact generational garbage collection, fast thread synchronization, and multiple coexisting just-in-time compilers (JIT). How ORP supports flexibility while preserving high performance; Interfaces between the garbage collector, the JIT, and the core virtual machine (VM); How the interfaces enable multiple garbage collectors and JIT without sacrificing performance; How the interfaces allow the JIT and the core VM to reduce or eliminate managed runtime environment-specific performance issues.
