- Abstract
This article discusses the technical differences between two surgical techniques used in the treatment of right colon cancer: complete excision of the mesocolon and D3 lymphadenectomy. The video vignette provides a comparative demonstration of the steps involved in both procedures, highlighting the variations in technique. The complete excision of the mesocolon is the more commonly used technique, but the D3 lymphadenectomy offers a more extensive lymphadenectomy. The article emphasizes that both procedures share similarities in terms of embryological dissection and vascular ligation, but differ in the inclusion of Guillot's trunk and all regional lymph nodes in the D3 lymphadenectomy. The authors declare no conflicts of interest and state that the article did not require funding.
