- Authors
Fabris, Dinko
- Abstract
The author of the article discusses the revival of early opera as of February 2013 by examining the discovery of the works of Italian composer Francesco Cavalli. According to the article, Cavalli was discovered as a consequence of the popularity of the works of Italian composer Claudio Monteverdi during the 20th century. The article discusses the performances of Cavalli's works by musician René Jacobs, what the author terms as the "Jacobs Baroque sound" in contemporary productions of Cavalli operas, and the contributions of British conductor Ivor Bolton to the revival of Cavalli operas.
