- Abstract
A significant amount of attention is paid nowadays to quality and quality-related issues in virtually every area of human activity. Continual measurement and enhancement of quality are of paramount importance in higher education because the accelerating process of 'Europeanisation' has made it necessary for universities to take stock of their assets and liabilities when it comes to the educational services they offer. Grounded on data collected from our home University, in this paper we draw on quality-related strategies, tools and insights originating from business studies in order to discuss how and to what extent they could be useful in measuring and enhancing the quality of the educational processes and of their outcomes. Therefore, after briefly outlining our context set against the European backdrop (1), the paper includes an excursus on the strategy and tools which are deemed to be particularly applicable to our context (2), we then go on to use these tools to perform a succinct quality analysis of the activities involved in the operations and management of three international master's programmes (3) and to suggest ways to improve the quality thereof (4).
