- Abstract
The article examines issues concerning the adoption of different renewable energy support schemes in the European Union (EU). It explores the challenges of implementing schemes such as feed-in tariffs (FITs) and tradable green certificates (TGCs), and offers insights on their actual operation including their windfall profits, prices and competition. It is also argued that the controversy over the European renewable electricity policy provides other countries with important lessons.
