- Abstract
In the final version of Deut the hermeneutical concept of Moses as an eyewitness, which legitimized the texts of Deut, has been replaced by the concept of Mosaic authorship. The presentation of an older aetiology (Deut 27) by the Priestly final version serves to replace Deut as the binding document by the entire Pentateuch and to integrate the older Deut as a part of the Pentateuch. This has been achieved by the fictional concept of Mosaic authorship (Deut 31). In the Sinai pericope there are some hints that this is not only a concept of Deut and its perspective but a comprehensive concept embracing the Pentateuch as a whole. It intends to integrate disparate traditions and at the same time to theologically delegitimate their older Vorlagen and sources in the postexilic period.
