- Abstract
The article describes the cases of four women with melasma which improved spontaneously when their combined oral contraceptive (COCP) regimen was changed to levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine device (LNG-IUD). Topics discussed include the result of an Internet-based survey by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on the use of IUD, the role of systemic progestin levels on the improvement of melasma observed on the patients, and the LNG content of IUD.
