The article discusses the lessons that can be learned from the history of art crime with emphasis on the art theft division of the army of French leader Napoleon Bonaparte called Citizen Wicar. Topics include the role of Citizen Wicar as the Keeper of Antiquities at the Louvre Museum, the organized looting by Napoleon's army and the appointment of Dominique-Vivant Denon as the director of Louvre Museum.
