- Title
Synchrotron-radiation-induced oxidation of selenite to selenate in coal-derived fly ash.
- Authors

- Abstract
The article presents a study on the oxidation of selenite to selenate in fly ash samples collected from a combustion plant in Alberta. It says that selenium is a potentially hazardous element that can be dispersed into the environment during coal combustion. It states that about 15-20% of selenite was oxidized during fly ash exposure to the synchrotron radiation in 2 hours. Meanwhile, it mentions that X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) spectra of arsenic revealed no variation.
