- Abstract
In this article, the editor discusses various topics related to the journal and the the Society of Civil War Surgeons, Inc. Particular focus is given to a conference held by the organization in Williamsburg, Virginia in 2011. Topics discussed at the conference include the transportation of wounded soldiers during the U.S. Civil War, Queen Victoria of England, and horse hair sutures. The conference featured presentations from Jill Newmark of the National Library of Medicine, journalist Ron Coddington, and Civil War scholar Guy Hasegawa. Calls for papers to be submitted to the journal and nominations for elections to office in the organization are also presented.
