- Title
White Pines, the CBC and Toronto as a border town.
- Authors
MARTÍNEZ-ZALCE, GRACIELA
- Abstract
The article looks at the interest of entertainment industries over North American border areas, focusing on the U.S. and Canada. The television program "Border Wars," which documents conflicts along the U.S.-Mexican border, is discussed. The author comments on the Canadian company White Pines Pictures and their portrayal of the U.S.-Canadian border in the television program "The Border." The documentary "Invisible Nation," which looks at illegal aliens in Toronto, Ontario, is also discussed. The author feels that the portrayal of border issues in television programs aired by the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. too often revolves around drug trafficking and illegal immigration.
