- Abstract
The article focuses on the study regarding the role of Philippine media on the Scarborough Shoal Standoff or international maritime conflict in the South China Sea (SCS) such as the online portal of newspapers "The Philippine" and "The Philippine Daily Inquirer (PDI). Topics discussed include the use of several concepts such as national sovereignty, international law, and identity, the nationalistic discourse by PDI, and the importance of non-partisan and balanced reporting.
