- Abstract
The article discusses a research study on how five different hosts affect the biology of Chrysoperla carnea (Stepens) (Neuroptera: Chrysopidae) in laboratory conditions. Observed in a bio-control laboratory was the biology of Chrysoperla carnea on natural hosts including cotton aphids or Aphis gossypii, pink bollworm or Pectinophora gossypiella and cotton mealy bug or Phanacoccus solenopsis. Recorded daily were biological parameters including food consumption, larval and pupal period and egg incubation. Results showed the different incubation period of C. carnea eggs while feeding on different hosts as well as records on maximum survival of pupae and adults on C. carnea that feed on eggs of S. cerealella with high egg fertility.
