- Title
Making A Case: The Practical Roots of Biblical Law.
- Authors
Myers, Andrew J. D.
- Abstract
The legal texts of the Bible have long been set beside the legal codes of the Ancient Near East in the interest of identifying both the similarities and the distinctness of the biblical text within its context. Milstein surveys the various legal-pedagogical text types: model contracts (pp. 24-28), fictional court cases (pp. 28-38), law collection extracts and exercises (39-48) and legal phrasebooks (pp. 48-50). First, Milstein observes that the text forms of scribal education and of actual legal texts mutually influence one another (e.g. p. 130).
