- Abstract
The article focuses on Jewish artist Toby Edward Rosenthal. Information were gathered from a book-length study published in 1978 by the Santa Susana Press of California State University at Northridge, California. Coverage of the article is from the artist's birth in 1848 to his 1865 departure for Munich, Germany where he continued his studies and became famous. The author notes that Rosenthal's "The Trial of Constance de Beverly" is featured in the Americana section of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Due to the awakening interest in the artist, the author reviews Rosenthal's childhood in California.
