- Abstract
Presents a study that investigated the effects of ultraviolet-B radiation (UVBR) and vertical mixing on nitrogen uptake by a natural planktonic community shifting from nitrate to silicic acid deficiency. Weighted spectral irradiances at the water surface of the mesocosms under natural UVBR and enhanced UVBR treatments; Temporal variations of the ambient concentrations of nitrate and nitrite; Average values of the phytoplankton abundance determined by flow cytometry.
