- Abstract
The state elections in Saarland, Schleswig-Holstein, and North Rhine-Westphalia took place in the first half of 2022. The SPD celebrated a success in Saarland but lost to the CDU in the other two states. The FDP will no longer be involved in the state governments. The Greens established themselves as the third force alongside the Union and the SPD and now govern in Schleswig-Holstein and North Rhine-Westphalia with the CDU. The implementation of political promises also depends on the balance of power in the Bundesrat. The CDU is having difficulties realigning itself, while the Greens continue to celebrate electoral victories. The AfD and the Left are losing relevance. The federal government maintains its political course, but the enthusiasm of the traffic light coalition has faded. It is expected that black-green government alliances will gain importance. The article deals with the topic of leaving a political party and the disillusionment regarding the traffic light coalition.
