- Abstract
The authors discuss a study by A. G. Miller and colleagues, published in the issue, on a specialized approach for successful extubation of children with congenital heart disease. Topics include one key demographic difference between the pediatric cardiac intensive care unit (PCICU) and pediatric intenstiv care unit (PICU) populations, the publication of the first pediatric ventilator liberation guidelines in 2023, and recommended screening for extubation readiness test (ERT) eligibility.
