LA CRISE OU LA FIN DU MYTHE DE L'ÉMERGENCE EN ÉGYPTE.

- Abstract
In recent years Egypt has given the illusion of being an "emerging" country with its rate of growth reaching 7 %. These figures have been largely overestimated and have little correlation with the reforms of Ahmed Nazif's government in 2004, rather the growth is based on the exceptional increase of traditional income, and the addition of foreign direct investment, boosted by the privatization program. The contrast between growth and the remaining poverty rate goes someway to explain the downfall of Hosni Moubarak.
