- Abstract
This article reflects on the barriers that limit research led by refugees in Dadaab, Kenya. It mentions the Borderless Higher Education for Refugees (BHER) project, which offers postgraduate programs to refugees in the Dadaab camps. Although progress has been made, funding opportunities depend mainly on institutions and researchers from the Global North, which limits the participation of refugee-led organizations. In addition, refugee researchers face difficulties in obtaining funding and participating in projects due to strict requirements and technological barriers. The article addresses the challenges faced by academics from the Global South in relation to funding, credibility, and visibility, and offers recommendations to improve resource transfer and promote more inclusive research.
