- Abstract
The book "The Moscow Connection" by Markus Wehner and Reinhard Bingener deals with Germany's dependence on Russia and the mistakes in German foreign and energy policy. Germany has outsourced its security to the United States and built its economy on Russian gas. The authors emphasize that not only Gerhard Schröder and his network are responsible for these mistakes, but also the Russia policy of the Union parties, especially Angela Merkel, and the CDU state associations in East Germany as well as the CSU. The book also reveals close connections between German politicians such as Sigmar Gabriel and Russian President Vladimir Putin, as well as Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller. It is praised as a thought-provoking and enlightening non-fiction book that ruthlessly exposes the weaknesses of German foreign and energy policy.
