- Abstract
The article focuses on the works of Orestes Brownson which was being collected and gathered by his son Henry F. Brownson in New England. It mentions that Brownson's works mostly consist of review essays and other journals together with several orations. It notes that there are two major concerns that emerged in his literary essays including the formation of American literature and the Catholic literature in America. Moreover, it states that Brownson was conscious enough of the need for a national culture after Civil War to overcome the division.
