- Abstract
This article focuses upon common points found within the literary works of Anton Chekhov and Fyodor Reshetnikov, a member of the Russian intelligentsia and a writer belonging to the “raznochintsy” of the 1860's. Based upon mostly secondary sources (literary critiques), the author notes the artistic philosophy, the approach to narration, and the conception vis-à-vis time of both 19th century Russian writers. The existential character of Reshetnikov's works is a factor which, she concludes, allows his work to be viewed within the context of 20th century literature, as well as be linked with the period literary classics of Chekhov.
