- Abstract
The article presents an analysis of Professor Ashutosh Bhagwat's article "Sorrell v. IMS Health: Details, Detailing, and the Death of Privacy" which appears in the same 2012 issue of the "Vermont Law Review." It examines the implications of the U.S. government's censoring of matters of both public and private concern. Several alternatives to government regulation of private information and the unlawful disclosure of shared information are also mentioned. The Sorrell case deals with Vermont's statutory ban on the sale or disclosure of pharmacy records which reveal the prescribing habits of physicians.
