- Abstract
The article presents a study which analyzed Adult Protective Services (APS) data to delineate the relationship between self-neglect and elder mistreatment. Topics discussed include demographics by subtype of elder mistreatment and first substantiated self-neglect (FSSN), common features of high-risk self-neglect that often occur with a steadfast refusal of medical care that can be a source of distress for clinicians, and implications of the findings.
