- Abstract
Modular construction is a method that involves building and assembling a plant or process offsite in modules, which are then transported to the final location. This approach has advantages such as cost-effectiveness, efficiency, and the ability to quickly explore and scale up new processes. However, it is not suitable for all projects and factors like complexity, size, and location need to be considered. When done properly, modular construction can provide fixed pricing, improved safety, reduced costs, and a streamlined construction process. It offers flexibility, efficiency, and standardized communication between modules, making it appealing for sustainability projects and emerging technologies. It is also beneficial for high-value, low-volume output applications, allowing for continuous and efficient production.
