- Title
A direct, biocatalytic route from CO2 to ethylene.
- Abstract
LanzaTech Inc. has developed a genetically engineered bacterium that can convert carbon dioxide directly into ethylene, a widely used chemical building block. This breakthrough could have significant implications for global carbon reduction and CO2 utilization. The process is built on LanzaTech's existing gas-fermentation platform and utilizes a proprietary bacterial strain that expresses a set of genes encoding an enzyme cascade for the transformation of CO2 to ethylene. LanzaTech is now working to optimize the process for pilot-scale production.
