- Authors
Boone, Tommy; Birnbaum, Larry
- Abstract
The article looks at the views of exercise physiologists on the use of performance-enhancing drugs in sports. Details are provided on an April, 2005 policy statement by the American Academy of Pediatrics, which opposes the use of the drugs. Moral and ethical aspects of performance-enhancing drugs are discussed. The profitability of the sports supplements industry is discussed. The author argues that exercise physiologists have an ethical obligation to oppose the use of performance-enhancing drugs and supplements.
