- Title
Methodological problems in the British i.t.a. research.
- Authors
Downing, John; Cartwright, Daphne; Jones, Barbara; Latham, William
- Abstract
The article deals with the two reactions to British initial teaching alphabet (i.t.a.) research, by Southgate and Marsh, which appeared in earlier issues of the Quarterly. Marsh's article reacted to assumptions underlying the analysis of data and Southgate's examined various motivational forces felt to influence the results of the experiment. In the article, the author replies to both authors in detail and the exchange should be of interest to those who have followed recent developments in i.t.a. research.
