- Abstract
The article describes a case of visceral leishmaniasis in a 49-year-old male patient with AIDS. The patient, which was originally from the Dominican Republic, reported loss of appetite, unspecific gastric discomfort and changes of bowel habits. A background on his past medical history is provided. Results of his laboratory examinations showed longstanding chronic anaemia and chronic kidney failure. Symptoms of leishmaniasis in patients with HIV are described.
