- Abstract
This article presents the case of a 23-year-old male who was referred to a hospital with upper abdominal pain, early satiety, and loose stools. Initial imaging showed significant dilation of the portal and splenic veins, with a mass that could be either a benign thrombosis or a malignant neoplastic process. Further imaging and tests were inconclusive, and the patient was treated with anticoagulation therapy, which led to symptom resolution. The article discusses the variable clinical presentation and diverse causes of portal vein thrombosis (PVT), as well as the management options for different subtypes of PVT. It emphasizes the importance of early intervention to prevent serious complications.
