- Abstract
In this study, six perennial flowers including Dianthus deltoides, Dianthus superbus, Dianthus carthusianorum, Dianthus chinensis cv. Diamond scarlet Imp., Aguilegia viridiflora, and Salvia japonica were used as experimental materials, by studying the differences in the growth rate of plant height(or plant width), budding stage, and flowering stage of six flower plants in different periods under two planting conditions of application of pure sheep manure and no fertilization, and the changes of SOD, POD, CAT activity and MDA content in plant leaves, the effects of application of pure sheep manure on the six perennial flowers were clarified. And the subordination function was used to compare the barren tolerance of the six kinds of flowers, which provided the basis for their planting on the barren land in Inner Mongolia. The results showed that compared with no fertilization, the application of pure sheep manure could improve the growth rate of Dianthus deltoides, Dianthus superbus, Dianthus carthusianorum, Dianthus chinensis cv. Diamond scarlet Imp., Aguilegia viridiflora, and Salvia japonica, and it could promote the early flowering of the six perennial flowers. Among them, the flowering period of Dianthus deltoides was 28 days earlier, that of Dianthus superbus was 16 days earlier, that of Salvia japonica was 13 days earlier, that of Dianthus carthusianorum was 11 days earlier, that of Dianthus chinensis cv. Diamond scarlet Imp. was 8 days earlier, and that of Aguilegia viridiflora was 5 days earlier. Compared with no fertilization, the application of pure sheep manure significantly increased the POD activity in the leaves of six flowers except for the Dianthus chinensis cv. Diamond scarlet Imp. for 0 d. The activities of SOD and CAT in the leaves of six kinds of flowers except for the Dianthus superbus were significantly increased, the content of MDA in the leaves of six kinds of flowers was significantly reduced. Therefore, pure sheep manure could promote the growth and development of the six perennial flowers, increase the activities of SOD, POD, and CAT in flower leaves, reduce the content of MDA, and thus enhance the resistance of the flowers. Comprehensively analyzing the plant morphology with the physiological indexes, it was found that Aguilegia viridiflora was most tolerant to infertility, followed by Dianthus carthusianorum and Salvia japonica, Dianthus superbus, Dianthus chinensis cv. Diamond scarlet Imp., and Dianthus deltoides were suitable to pure sheep manure and ranked the 3rd, 4th, and 5th, respectively. The results of barren tolerance obtained by analysis of each physiological index by the subordinate function were consistent with those obtained by morphological index and ornamental index, indicating that the physiological indexes could be used at the early stage to forecast the barren tolerance of flowers.
