- Abstract
Introduction: The profession of nurse is characterized by a high degree of physical and mental stress. Several personality traits are involved in its management. Aim: To analyse mutual relations of chosen temperament personality traits and strategies of coping with nurses' burden as well as possible Methods: design was cross-sectional study. Personality traits were determined by the Gordon Personality Profile - Inventory (GPP-I). Burden-coping strategies studied through Tobin's questionnaire Coping strategies inventory (CSI). Relations of variables were subjected to Spearman correlation coeficient. Results: Nurses achieved average values in ascendancy, sociability, cautiousness, original reasoning, vigor and personal relations, above-average values were achieved in responsibility and emotional stability. We have discovered the preference in problem- solving strategy, social support and cognitive restructuralisation. Conclusion: Knowing the relations of chosen temperament traits on the preference of work-load coping strategies enables more functional formation of medical teams and thus increase effectivity and quality of specific nursing activity. At the same time, it enables more effective targeting of intervention programs supporting the development of personality traits related to effective forms of coping management.
