- Abstract
The article analyzes the short story "A Journey of Conscience," by Yao Emei. It explores the characters and the plot line. The author notes how the reader is taken through juxtapositions within juxtapositions to portray the psychological pain, dysfunction, and moral struggles of the characters including protagonist Jiahui, her employer Cheng, and Cheng's son Leilei. It discusses how Jiahui becomes an innocent prism, through which readers see the struggle of Leilei and Cheng on the other side.
