- Abstract
Objective: In recent years, there has been an increase in sustainable ecologically based practices that are in harmony with nature, where high- and high-quality products are obtained from unit area. The interest in medicinal and aromatic plants has also increased the need for quality development of these plants. Therefore, this study was carried out to compare the effects of different doses of barnyard manure, vermicompost and chicken manure on some growth and development parameters of basil (O. basilicum L.). Materials and Methods: In the study carried out in greenhouse environment in 3 replications, 10, 20 and 30 % doses of vermicompost and barnyard manure and 2,5, 5 and 10 % doses of chicken manure were applied to the experimental groups. In the study, plant height, plant branch height, green, dry leaf herbage, leaf length and width and SPAD chlorophyll content values were analyzed to investigate the growth and development of the plant. Results: According to the two and three-way ANOVA tests, plant height, number of plant branches, green, dry leaf herbage, leaf length, leaf width, SPAD chlorophyll content values were found to be statistically significant according to the fertilizer type and doses. Conclusion: As a result of the evaluation of morphological characteristics, it was determined that plant height was higher and statistically significant in 20% dose of vermicompost, number of plant branches in all vermicompost treatments, green and dry leaf herb yield in 10% vermicompost treatment, leaf length in 10% vermicompost treatment and leaf width in 30% vermicompost treatment compared to other treatments. In general, it is observed that as the fertilizer application dose increases, the yield decreases. Chlorophyll (SPAD) values in all fertilizer treatments were higher than the control. Chlorophyll values in all doses of vermicompost treatments were higher than the other treatments.
