- Authors

- Abstract
This article describes the 1983 law that provides for registration of practicing counselors in North Carolina, the seventh state to credential professional counselors. <BR> Because public recognition is a necessary mark of a profession, credentialing efforts are of interest to both counselors and consumers of counseling services. This article will report on the counselor registry law passed in North Carolina, the first to use "registration" in the title, and should be of particular interest to counselors in other states whether they do or do not have some form of statutory credentialing.
