The article reports on a new research and development programme launched by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration (NPRA). The programme is aimed at addressing the negative impact of road construction and operations on the aquatic environment by acquiring new knowledge on potential contaminants in traffic-related runoffs. Biological and chemical impacts will be investigated by the programme.
