- Abstract
This article reports a case of a symmetrical drug-related intertriginous and flexural exanthema (SDRIFE)-like rash following a COVID-19 infection. The patient, a 58-year-old woman with bipolar disorder, developed an itchy rash on her left flank after testing positive for COVID-19 and starting medication. The rash gradually spread and she was admitted to the hospital. The rash was treated with antihistamines and topical steroids, and it disappeared over the following six days. SDRIFE is a drug eruption characterized by symmetrical gluteal and intertriginous erythema, and it has been associated with exposure to various drugs and infections, including severe COVID-19. Further research is needed to understand the true correlation between COVID-19 and SDRIFE-like rash.
