- Abstract
Granuloma annulare (GA) is a benign cutaneous lesion that has no proven etiology or widely accepted theory of pathogenesis. It has several clinical manifestations and a multitude of differential diagnoses. The article reviews the common presentations of the disease, discusses current studies of the histology, pathogenesis, and etiology and details effective treatment modalities. The eruption commonly resolves within 2 years; however, patients may desire treatment due to unacceptable cosmesis or irritation. A large and varied number of therapeutic modalities have been used in the treatment of GA.
