Civilization, Savagism, and the Presence of Burning Children.
- Authors
Smith, Robert O.
- Abstract
The article examines how Israeli discourse protected the unity of Israeli society following attacks perpetrated by Jewish settlers against Palestinian civilians by asserting distinctions between the savage and the civilized. It offers an analysis of English language Israeli news media as informed by the framework in the book "Savagism and Civilization: A Study of the Indian and the American Mind" by Roy Harvey Pearce. It also looks at the American colonization of Palestine.
