The article offers information on the history, purpose and significance of the provision the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), which promotes human right to equality and non-discrimination under the International human rights law. It analyzes the role of the United Nations Human Rights Committee and its member states in recognition of a right to same-sex marriage in Western States.
