- Abstract
The increase in environmental problems day by day threatens the future as well as the present, so every part of the society is responsible for solving these problems. Businesses are one of the parties that play an active role and undertake tasks for the solution of these problems. In order to solve environmental problems, businesses should consider all their processes with a sustainability perspective and encourage their employees to exhibit environmental behavior in the workplace. For this reason, it is necessary to understand the perceptions of the employees towards environment and environmental problems, to determine what behaviors the employees exhibit in their social lives and at the workplace, and to understand what the organizations do to direct their employees to environmental behavior. The main purpose of the study is to reveal the environmental behaviors exhibited by the employees in their workplaces, to reveal whether these behaviors show sectoral differences, whether there is consistency between the behaviors exhibited in social life and those exhibited in business life, and whether the enterprises encourage these behaviors with corporate policies. In the study, qualitative method is preferred, and face-to-face interviews are conducted with individuals working in different sectors in the province of Karaman within the scope of the study carried out in the phenomenology pattern. The results reveal that the employees' knowledge of green behaviors is limited, and the practices of the enterprises are insufficient.
