- Title
HERE I STAND: MEDIATED BODIES IN DISSENT.
- Authors
Koukal, D. R.
- Abstract
The article explores the developments in dissenting bodies through phenomenological analysis. It considers the different forms of political potency and lived body and its movement through space. It investigates what it means to be a dissenting body witnessed within a public place. It also examines what happens when dissenting bodies are consigned to circumcised spaces or retreat to the virtual. It attempts to show how these developments blind the media witness, which renders dissenting bodies far less politically effective than they have been in the past and dangerously weakens the democratic traditions of free speech and open dissent.
