- Authors
DENNISON, JEAN
- Abstract
The article presents a case study of debates surrounding citizenship reform in the Osage Nation during the early 21st century. Particular focus is given to the roles of recognition, tribal sovereignty, territory and the Osage Nation's constitution in these debates. The author discusses the factors leading to Osage voters' choice of lineal descent as a determinant of citizenship, rather than blood quantum and culture. Settler colonialism is also discussed.
