- Abstract
Plants are an important part of the living world and basic knowledge seems essential to understanding many current socioscientific controversies. Nevertheless, the study of plants in the teaching of biology is often marginal and can lead to underrepresentation of plants. This study looked at photographs and their legends in French biology textbooks (SVT) published in 2016 for Cycle 4 of secondary school. From 555 photographs analyzed in 5 manuals, an underrepresentation of the plants was highlighted, but in a variable way according to the different manuals.
