The article presents the author's views on pictures as imitations of life. The author analyzed different aspects of pictures including intention, form and content, photography and resemblance. According to the author, a photograph also serves as a record of a past scene. The author examined pictures on the basis of their identity and pointed out that certain pictures have fixed identities such as a snowman generally has a carrot for its nose.
