- Authors
KUSUKAWA, SACHIKO
- Abstract
The article discusses calendars or so-called Almanachs that were published in the mid-16th century after the advent of the printing press. The author focuses on the booklet calendar for 1575 created by Andreas Nolthius to illustrate the importance of calendars in making astronomical information available to early modern Europeans. Nolthius' calendar is described, noting that information in it and other calendars regarding movable days of feasting such as Easter and planetary positions was tied to astronomy and had influences on medicine.
