- Abstract
The article focuses on the changes implemented in the maritime common law in the United States. The new law states that district courts shall have original jurisdiction, exclusive of the courts of the States, of any civil case of admiralty or maritime jurisdiction. The maritime suitors have been confirmed to pursue a common law remedy of selecting state or federal forum. It is established with exceptions that maritime litigation brought in state courts cannot be removed to the federal courts.
