- Abstract
The article presents a research study on the mortality observed-to-expected (O:E) ratio in otolaryngology. The study is undertaken through retrospective chart review of 28 patients cared art Department of Otolaryngology of Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee from January 2006 to December 2010. The results of the study show that the O:E ratio varies from 1.1 to 0.29 and attention should be given to post-operative complications and coding of comorbidities.
